What Good Onya Australia is all aboutThe situationOver the last few months, newspaper, television and online headlines have been increasingly dominated by negative stories about business and the economy – ‘share market plunge’, ‘huge job cuts’, ‘recession looming’ and so on. The bad press is so widespread that a November 2008 study by the Australian Retailer’s Association, showed more than 60% of Australians wrongfully believe that our country is already in recession! The media seems to thrive on negative stories, and unfortunately for all of us, this is actually making the economic situation worse. The constant bad news drives down consumer and business confidence levels and as a result, people are cutting back on spending and downsizing their businesses. This has had a ripple effect and is causing our country to experience a far greater downturn than is justified. In reality, there are lots of positive things happening in our country and our economy is actually in a pretty good state. The Federal Government has money in the bank, our GDP is solid, our banking system is one of the soundest in the world and we are well-positioned to avoid a recession. Our missionThe people of Australia are now at the stage where we are not prepared to just sit back and let this doom and gloom take over the country! We want to make a stand against those that are promoting the negatives and creating fear about our economy just because bad news sells. Good Onya Australia brings all these people together so we can spread the positivity and work together to pull our country out of this negative spiral. We are not trying to simplify the economic situation or encourage people to bury their heads in the sand. And we definitely aren’t about taking political sides. Good Onya Australia is simply about bringing Australians together to support each other and focus on the good stuff, so we can make a positive difference for our country.
