Gold Coast girl lends a hand in Africa

My wonderful daughter Sharyn is the perfect example of Aussie spirit and positivity.

Despite being made redundant from her job a few months ago, Sharyn is still getting out there and making a difference and helping some of the world's most neediest people.

In February 2009, Sharyn will embark on a World Vision 3 week challenge that will transport her and 25 others to the heart of East Africa and to the snows of legendary Kilimanjaro to experience Maasai communities and see the work of World Vision first-hand.  Their challenge is to make a difference to a small district in Tanzania called Magugu (World Vision ADP), which consists of 14 villages with a population of 57,000 within a harsh landscape called the Great Rift Valley.  The group will be helping the villagers get access to safe drinking water.

It's going to be a tough challenge but it will be so rewarding for everyone involved.  I'm so proud of Sharyn for getting out there and trying to make a positive difference in the world. She is still looking for donations to fund the cause, so iIf you are interested in supporting this worthy challenge, you can call me on 1300 399399 and I will pass on her details. Remember every cent goes towards the project!
